Texas.Net Opens State-of-The-Art Internet Data Center in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – August 20, 2003 -In a move that increases its capacity to meet growing customer demand, Texas.NetT has opened a state-of-the-art Internet Data Center (IDC) in Austin. The acquisition brings the number of Texas.Net’s data centers to four, including three in Austin and one in Houston, Texas.

Over 1,000 corporations throughout the region rely on Texas.Net for Internet access, applications hosting, data center and disaster recovery services, and the company’s existing IDCs in Austin are nearing full capacity. The new IDC, a multi-million dollar facility, gives Texas.Net another 30,000 square feet to provide essential N+1 infrastructure and robust disaster recovery capabilities to its expanding customer base.

Given the expense, time commitment and unique skill sets required to build and manage Tier-one IDCs and their underlying networks, a growing number of Texas’ leading businesses are outsourcing their Internet connectivity and data center needs as a way to reduce costs and risks, speed time-to-market and focus on core competencies, noted Jonah Yokubaitis, co-founder and CEO of Texas.Net.

“In addition, more and more customers are evaluating their business continuance plans and as a result are seeking sound disaster recovery and Internet data center services. We’ve found the IDC itself becomes a primary factor in the customer’s decision-making process,” he said. “After deeply evaluating the data center market for the past year, I am firmly convinced we acquired one of the finest IDCs in the state of Texas, on par with top tier data centers across the country.”

Incorporating the most advanced security, protection and redundancy systems, Texas.Net’s new IDC provides peace of mind for companies that need colocation, disaster recovery and business Internet access services. The data center includes five levels of security, biometric access controls and an IP-based, closed circuit TV (CCTV) surveillance system. The IDC also incorporates redundant uninterrupted power supplies and HVAC units, two generators and high-sensitivity smoke detection systems that can detect a fire up to 30 minutes before smoke or flame.

“Texas.Net’s new secure and state-of-the-art Internet Data Center simply extends the already outstanding value proposition Texas.Net provides to NCsoft and its online gaming community,” said Peter Jarvis, director of IT for Texas.Net customer NCsoft. “As online games such as Lineage – a game that attracts the greatest number of concurrent users in the world – are our lifeblood, I could not feel more comfortable trusting a provider to host our mission-critical Internet-based games and meet our high-bandwidth Internet connectivity needs in Texas.”

The Texas.Net IDC is located at 7401 East Ben White Blvd. in Southeast Austin, just under three miles from Austin-Bergstrom Airport and ten minutes from downtown Austin. The area offers hotels, restaurants and other amenities, as well as the largest telecommunications hub in Austin, making the IDC ideal for Internet connectivity, colocation and disaster recovery solutions.
