See Redundancy In Action

Used to securely house electrical wires, telecom cables and lit fiber, along with heating, ventilation and air-conditioning ducts, conduits provide protection for some of the most critical components of a data center. Safely tucked away underneath the data center, the conduits are a maze of pathways neatly organized to carry the necessary elements that make the data center hum. Texas 1’s motto includes ‘full redundancy at every level’—from power feeds to telecommunication cables – all are engineered for diverse entry points into the data center along with multiple pathways for added reliability.

The Generator Rooms

Construction has begun on the Generator Rooms. These rooms will house the generators to ensure there is always a redundant power supply within Texas 1 to support the heating, cooling and electrical hubs. This is the future home to six generators, which will provide over 12-megawatts of power.

Mechanical Plant

The Mechanical Plant is the infrastructure used to support and maintain a data center facility, including the heating, cooling and electrical hubs on which the data center runs. Texas 1 has carefully architected and engineered its Mechanical Plant to be reinforced, secure, and fully redundant at all levels to ensure operations are always up and running.

Proactive Disaster Recovery

One of the major highlights of Texas 1 is that it fully supports customer disaster recovery and business continuity planning. As you can see from our pictures, every step is being taken to reinforce the facility to be wind-proof, fire-proof, flood-proof and just overall remain fully operational in the event of a disaster.

Concrete + Concrete + Concrete = Progress

We promised you progress and that is what we are seeing in our next phase of building and construction. In the pictures below, you will see crews carefully building the overall data center structure with rebar forms, also known as reinforcing bars, that will ‘reinforce’ or support the concrete walls throughout the facility. From the generator room, which will have concrete-filled masonry walls for added fire protection, to the Caissons which are the concrete support columns – reinforced concrete is the name of the game right now. With thousands of tons of concrete to be used in its construction, Texas 1 will be one of the most secure and solid data centers around – built to last and provide the utmost in protection.

Walls Go Up at Texas 1 Data Center

The sunny Texas weather is faring well at Texas 1! This week, crews made quite a bit of progress as they raised the walls at Texas 1. 8 of the 900 or so precast reinforced concrete wall panels are now up at the Texas 1 facility. The concrete columns will support the roof, and the walls will act as the skin holding the facility together. In essence, the work done this week acts as the “skeletal system” of the Texas 1 building. It’s starting to get easier and easier to visualize exactly how massive this premium data center will be…

Data Foundry Has Broken Ground!

The Data Foundry team is proud to feature our new blog series showcasing the construction of Data Foundry’s new $150M, 250,000 SF Master Planned Texas 1 Facility.

Residing on our 40 Acre Data Ranch, capable of over 1 million square feet of data center space, the Texas 1 is designed with redundancy at every level – power, water, utilities, IP connectivity and more.

Referred to as a “data dream home” by local news station KVUE, Texas 1 will house servers, store data and provide IT backup and disaster recovery for companies on both a local and global level.
