Why You Should Join Us at Data Center World 2018

Data center world 2018 blog

Data Foundry has been attending AFCOM’s Data Center World for the past six years, and we’re happy the event is just a short drive away for us this year – San Antonio, Texas. Data Center World is always an educational event for anyone who works in IT infrastructure, and the networking opportunities and after-parties are something everyone in the industry looks forward to each year.

We encourage all who work in IT infrastructure to attend this year’s event, especially if you’re based in Texas, since this will be the first time the event is held here. Professionals can attend talks, workshops and panel discussions on anything from IoT and blockchain to GDPR compliance and data center airflow management. The conference opens on Monday, March 12 and continues through then end of the day Thursday.

Data Foundry will hold its annual networking event on Wednesday at 7 pm at the Rio Rio Cantina, just a short walk from the conference. Cocktails and Tex-Mex hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

Some of the main themes that will be focused on at the conference this year include:

  • Networking & Cybersecurity
Topics to be discussed around networking and security include, cyber threats and trends, the art of cyber conflict, data center interconnectivity, single mode vs multimode fiber, cabling considerations for spine and leaf network architecture, and managing hyperscale networks.
  • IoT
Talks on IoT include how IoT will change the data center, IoT and data collection at the Edge, and IoT’s impact on data center taxonomy.
  • Hybrid Cloud
Optimal workload placement for public, private and hybrid clouds, best practices in securing a hybrid IT environment.
  • Data Center Infrastructure Management
Topics to discuss (among many others in this area) include reducing energy consumption by improving airflow management, evaluating economizers, battery technology and the future of UPS, liquid immersion cooling, disaster prevention and recovery, and bridging the gap between IT and facilities.
