DC/AC Data Center Conference took place this week at the ACL Live – Moody Theater in Austin, TX. Attendees were there exchanging insights and learnings about enterprise data center strategies and life cycle management, such as site selection criteria, capacity and migration planning, lease negotiations, and cloud implementation.

Data Foundry was a conference contributor, and the Company’s CTO, Edward Henigin, participated in a dynamic executive panel with several industry experts. Edward spoke about the need for data center customers to understand that everything starts and stops with power. When choosing the location of your data center, customers should ensure there’s enough power that efficiently operates enterprise applications and infrastructure while allowing for additional room for growth.

Likewise – Cameron Wynne, VP of Operations and Development at Data Foundry engaged in an operator’s panel discussing how wholesale clients are trending towards more retail-level services, such as remote hands, ISP connectivity, and rack/stack. He went on to emphasize that Data Foundry can deliver wholesale in various power capacities; not just the 1MW to 1.5MW in a 10,000 Sq Ft Data Hall like the REITS (real estate investment trusts).

DC/AC attendees could see first-hand the robust power configuration and redundancy that Edward and Cameron spoke about during the panel discussions. They were transported from the W Austin Hotel by a private coach, to Data Foundry’s Texas 1 flagship data center in Austin. Texas 1 provides 24 megawatt power capacity, and dual underground power feeds by two independent substations. Each power feed enters the Data Ranch campus via diverse paths and connects separate transformers on the property. This tour was a highlight for many who had not experienced a premier data center.

The DC/AC attendees offered a lot of positive feedback about the conference and data center tour.
