The Data Foundry Difference
Established in 1994 as Texas.Net, Data Foundry is one of the first Internet Service Providers in the United States. During our sixteen year history, we have supported thousands of enterprise companies in virtually every industry, including high performance computing, energy, financial services, healthcare and technology firms. Companies rely on our data center solutions to keep their businesses operating and secure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1994 – How It All Began
In 1994 the Internet technologies we take for granted today—e-mail, Websites and other online communications—were in various stages of taking hold in the corporate world. Networks were being built and few imagined the Internet would forever transform the way we conduct business. Our founders did. In 1994, Data Foundry set out to do something quite remarkable: bring the Internet to Texas. With personal funds invested, we became the first Internet Service Provider in San Antonio, TX. We were profitable our first quarter and have been ever since.
1995-1998 – Managed Growth
Data Foundry’s strategy during these formative years was to become the premium Internet Service Provider in every market served. In 1995, we moved our headquarters to Austin, Texas. Operations were established in Houston (1996), Dallas (1997), and Ft. Worth (1998).
1999 – Established First Data Center in Austin, TX
In 1999, we expanded beyond Internet connectivity services by introducing colocation and enterprise data center services with the building of our first colocation data center in downtown Austin.
2002 – HDC (Houston Data Center) Acquired
In 2002, Data Foundry acquired Reliant Energy’s Internet and data center operations in Houston, Texas, making it the third Internet data center owned and operated by Data Foundry. Despite the economic downturn, our growth continued, evidenced by surpassing the 1,000th customer mark and maintaining profitable operations for the ninth straight year which has continued to this day.
2003 – ADC (Austin Data Center) Grand Opening
In 2003 as we continued to grow, we opened a data center (ADC) in Austin, Texas as our fourth Texas data center. Our premier ADC Disaster Recovery Campus offers an offsite location with an Internet data center, a world-class network and accommodations for the people required to keep your business running during a declared emergency.
2003 – Global Colocation Site Established in Ashburn, VA
Data Foundry established its first colocation site in Ashburn, VA, and began managing remote sites from our data center NOC in Austin, TX.
2004 – Global Colocation Site Established in Amsterdam
In 2004, we established our first international colocation site in Amsterdam, NL. This footprint was the first of three managed sites in Amsterdam.
2005 – Texas.Net becomes Data Foundry
As the customer base grew both nationally and internationally, Texas.Net changed its name to Data Foundry in 2005.
2008 – Global Colocation Site Established in Hong Kong
Data Foundry establishes colocation space in Hong Kong, expanding its presence to include multiple countries.
2009 – Global Colocation Site Established in L.A.
Data Foundry establishes a colocation site in L.A., provides the company with East, West and Central U.S. footprints.
2011 – Texas 1 Grand Opening
With the advent of Texas 1 – our 250,000 square foot carrier-neutral data center on the Data Ranch campus – Data Foundry achieved its goal of establishing Central Texas as a leading market for wholesale and retail data center outsourcing, colocation and disaster recovery services.
