Smart Financial Credit Union Selects Data Foundry as Disaster Recovery Provider

Austin, TX – Smart Financial Credit Union, a leading financial institution servicing the Houston-Metro area, has awarded Data Foundry® with a multi-year disaster recovery services contract. They will utilize one of Data Foundry’s custom built cages to securely house their critical IT infrastructure in the event of a local disaster. Smart Financial Credit Union, headquartered in Houston, Texas, will leverage Data Foundry’s Austin Data Center to meet the distance requirement of their Disaster Recovery plan.

Smart Financial Credit Union chose Data Foundry after conducting a detailed analysis of data center providers statewide. “Facility selection is a key component of our Disaster Recovery plan, and decisions like this are not made overnight,” said Mike Piwetz, Chief Information Officer. “My team developed a list of data center requirements and conducted several on-site tours. Ultimately, we agreed that Data Foundry’s Austin Data Center was the premier facility in Texas. In addition, it is reassuring to know that our servers are well out of harm’s way if we were to see another event like Hurricane Ike.”
