San Jacinto College Selects Texas.Net's Managed Internet Services
Houston-area college district will use Texas.Net to support distance learning, wireless connectivity
AUSTIN, Texas - October 28th, 2003 - Texas.Net today announced that it has been selected by the San Jacinto College District to provide mission-critical Internet connectivity services under a five-year agreement. San Jacinto, the newest customer in Texas.Net's rapidly expanding corporate client base, serves nearly 45,000 students throughout the Houston area.
Texas.Net will provide San Jacinto with a common Internet gateway at the school's primary computing facility in Pasadena. This will deliver a robust Internet connection to the college's three networked campuses, three of its extension centers and several annexes, enabling distance learning, virtual private networking, wireless connectivity for students and other high-bandwidth Internet connectivity needs.
"The Internet is no longer a luxury in education - it's an essential tool for research and learning, and provides the ability for unprecedented communications between faculty, students and parents," said Mike Alleman, Director, Infrastructure and Network Services for the San Jacinto College District. "So, when it came time to add bandwidth, we sought the most reliable network service we could find - and found it with Texas.Net. Clearly, Texas.Net represents a great value. They are a solid company backed by exceptional network engineering experience."
To meet San Jacinto's high-bandwidth Internet connectivity needs, Texas.Net will provide the school with Gigabit Ethernet connection service, which delivers a fully dedicated connection to the Internet using Texas.Net's network infrastructure.
"This is the start of what I'm sure will be a long and rewarding partnership," said Jonah Yokubaitis, co-founder and CEO of Texas.Net. "Our experience with educational organizations of all sizes, including Austin's St. Edwards University, means we know what it takes to support a school like San Jacinto as it embraces the full potential of the Internet."
Texas.Net's network infrastructure is widely recognized for its stability, redundancy and reliability. As Texas' leading business Internet service provider, the company has also earned an outstanding reputation with educational institutions for its unparalleled customer support program, which gives clients immediate, 24/7 access to Texas.Net's team of cross-trained service engineers.
