The TexasNAP® Network
The Fastest Network in Texas
Created in 1994 and growing ever since, The TexasNAP is a
unique, Texas-based network you join when utilizing service from
Data Foundry. The TexasNAP interconnects private Network
Access Points (NAPs) built and managed by Data Foundry, and
strategically located and operated in the major Texas cities of
Austin, Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth and San Antonio.
Providing Texas-based businesses the fastest network in Texas as
well as the quickest, most reliable route to and across the
Internet
The TexasNAP is both a private network and the fastest route to the Internet
The TexasNAP acts as a private, secure business-to-business
network allowing Data Foundry customers to connect to each other
without traversing the Internet. Additionally, the Internet
"connects to" the TexasNAP providing the fastest possible
connectivity. Our TexasNAP hubs consist of
state-of-the-art equipment ensuring the highest levels of
redundancy, network performance, reliability and scalability.
Connect directly to more than 1,000 businesses on the TexasNAP
With over 1,000 companies on the TexasNAP, the odds are that you
are doing business with at least one of them. Join the TexasNAP
and experience the lightning-fast speed, security and consistent
reliability that comes from business-to-business network
connections that don't traverse the public Internet.
The Internet connects directly to the TexasNAP
Dozens of Global Internet Backbones and Local Fiber networks
connect directly to the TexasNAP, thus the Internet "connects to"
the TexasNAP. Currently, the TexasNAP facilities can provision
capacity up to the equivalent of forty OC-192 connections
(10Gbps).
The TexasNAP sped up Internet traffic as early as 1995 using BGP4
Data Foundry was one of the first ISPs in the country to introduce
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4) routing into its network. BGP4
"looks" down one of the many paths to the Internet and sends
traffic over the fastest path. In short, you can be assured your
data will traverse the fastest path across the Internet.
Multi-layered redundancy ensures 100% uptime
The TexasNAP provides fully redundant Internet connectivity
providing customers the reliability, scalability and uptime they
require. At least six of the world's largest
Internet Backbones connect directly and to the TexasNAP, we raise
the bar on acceptable performance with a 100% network headroom
policy. This means we provision additional backbone and
intra-network capacity when we reach 50% utilization. Further,
our 24x7 Network Operations Center constantly monitors the
TexasNAP and the more than 1,000 connections to it ensuring
utilization and throughput thresholds are not exceeded.
Also, up to eight redundant, high-capacity fiber networks per market connect directly to the TexasNAP, bringing the Internet directly to Data Foundry customers. Further, our network architecture eliminates single points of failure and results in our ability to guarantee 100% network uptime.
Lastly, the TexasNAP infrastructure is designed with redundantly configured edge routers and customer access routers. Our network is constructed with Cisco® 12000 series routers and Cisco 6500 series switches. These routers leverage state-of-the-art silicon and software technologies (including redundant backplane and processor technology) resulting in unparalleled service quality and continuous uptime. For customer access from outside the data center we utilize Cisco 7500 series routers, also best in their class.
