Keeping it Cool

Data Foundry designed the cooling infrastructure at Texas 1 to conserve energy, withstand load increases and provide consistent high performance. Texas 1 utilizes a chilled water cooling system that supports any power density, while consuming significantly less electricity than conventional air-cooled systems.

A Flexible Design to Cool Any Configuration

Texas 1′s chilled water system is the ideal cooling system for today’s High Performance Computing (HPC) demands.  Data Foundry provides custom cooling options to meet your specific requirement.

  • Chimneys ‹ 25kw
  • Hot Aisle Containment ‹ 30kw
  • Cold Aisle Containment ‹ 30kw
  • Rear door heat exchangers (RDX) ‹ 60kw
  • Custom chilled water to cabinet cooling – sky is the limit

High Performance Computing Loves Chilled Water Cooling Systems

Chilled water cooling is the only cooling system design that effectively cools HPC environments due to its ability to quickly respond to load changes and higher air delta Ts.

Reliability and Redundancy at Every Level

With a 100% concurrently maintainable design, Texas 1’s chilled water cooling system can isolate any problem or maintenance task to be serviced without reduction to overall performance or risk of system failure.

Reliability

  • Dual-independent water utility sources, including a 48-inch main source located 12 feet underground
  • Dual feeds enter the Data Ranch campus via underground, concrete encased water lines
  • Dual feeds connect to Texas 1′s chilled water system via diverse paths

100% Concurrently Maintainable

  • Paralleling water lines connect water flow between the chilled water pumps and the towers and chillers providing increased redundancy and concurrent maintainability
  • Extensively looped, bi-directional chilled water system provides the highest level of reliability in these systems
