1994 - How It All Began

When Data Foundry launched over a decade ago as Texas.Net, the Internet technologies we take for granted today - e-mail, websites and other online communications - were in various stages of taking hold in the corporate world. Across the country networks were still being built and few people imagined how the Internet would soon transform the way we conduct business every day.

But our founders did. And so, in 1994, Data Foundry set out to do something quite remarkable: with $10,000 in personal funds, we brought the Internet to Texas - and in doing so became the first Internet Service Provider in San Antonio. We were profitable our first quarter and have been profitable ever since.

1995-1998 - Managed Growth

Data Foundry's strategy in the following years was to penetrate, dominate and grow one market at a time. In 1995, we moved our headquarters to Austin, Texas. In 1996, 1997 and 1998 operations were established in Houston, Dallas and Ft. Worth respectively.

1999 - Our First Internet Data Center

In 1999, services were expanded beyond Internet connectivity services as colocation and enterprise data center services were introduced. Along those lines, we built our first Internet Data Center in downtown Austin. By today's standards, it would be considered a micro-site at 6,000 square feet. However, it proved to be an extremely wise business decision as it became cash-flow positive within months and validated our cost-plus-profit business model.

2002 - Growth Continues Despite Weak Economy

In 2002, Data Foundry acquired Reliant Energy's Internet and Data Center Operations in Houston, Texas bringing the total number of Internet Data Centers owned to three. Despite the economic downturn, growth continued as we surpassed the 1000th customer mark, recognized a 39% year-over-year revenue growth to nearly $18 million and remained profitable for the ninth straight year.

2003 - Data Foundry® Premier IDC & Disaster Recovery Campus

In 2003 as we continued to grow, we opened a third Internet Data Center (IDC) in Austin, Texas bringing our total number of data centers in Texas to four. Our Premier IDC Disaster Recovery Campus offers an offsite location with an Internet Data Center, a world-class network, and accommodations for the people required to keep your business running during a declared emergency. It is the ideal location for implementing disaster recovery plans and colocating mission critical data and hardware.

2005 - Texas.Net Changes Name to Data Foundry

In 2005, Texas.Net changed its name to Data Foundry as our customer base grew both nationally and internationally.
